ANGLE, Africa’s Next Green Leaders Accelerator

Green Generation Initiative (GGI) launched the Africa’s Next Green Leaders Eccelerator (ANGLE), a bold program enabling youth across the continent to design, pilot, and scale disruptive climate solutions.

The Eccelerator debuted with a five-day African Youth Climate Bootcamp in Nairobi, gathering 21 changemakers, dubbed Africa’s Next Green Leaders, from 11 countries working on innovations in energy access, sustainable agri-food systems, and climate resilience.

A highlight was the Pitching Competition, where five standout  recognition and funding to scale their solutions:

• Yvonne Mose (Kenya) – Bioethanol cooking fuel from food waste (USD 10,000)
• Jamal Sonko (Uganda) – Plastic waste to clean LPG (USD 10,000)
• Elhadji Sagne (Senegal) – Cactus into biogas and fertilizer (USD 10,000)
• Tabitha Kasongo (Malawi) – Supporting smallholder farmers (USD 5,000)
• Muleikatu Issah (Ghana) – Fully funded trip to Senegal for the Africa Food Systems Summit

Gracing the launch on International Youth Day, Hon. Festus Ngeno, Principal Secretary for Environment and Climate Change, praised the initiative: “Africa’s young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow, they are innovators of today. Platforms like ANGLE ensure their solutions are heard, supported, and scaled.”

Over the next six months, fellows will receive mentorship, funding, and access to global platforms including the Africa Climate Summit, COP30, and New York Climate Week.

Elizabeth Wathuti, Founder of Green Generation Initiative, assured participants of long-term support: “Africa’s youth hold the keys to solving climate challenges that threaten our future. ANGLE exists to provide them with the skills, resources, and networks needed to grow their impact and shape global climate policy.”

“We will work to bring more people and resources on board to help scale your innovations. Even if you didn’t win the prize money, this is just the beginning of your journey,” she added.

By 2030, ANGLE aims to nurture and support over 200 youth leaders who are driving scalable , climate solutions across Africa.
