Through an accelerator program we aim to build the capacity of youth across Africa to drive climate action and contribute to global sustainability efforts and multilateral systems.

GGI believes, young people are uniquely positioned and have the potential to be effective key drivers of climate action and sustainable development, offering fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and a deep investment in the future of our planet.

As a youth-centric organization, our accelerator is designed to empower the upcoming young climate leaders across Africa to take the lead in climate advocacy, policy-making, movement building, social enterprise and innovation.

We provide young people with the skills, knowledge, resources, and platforms they need to make tangible contributions to national, regional & global multi-lateral process and activities.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Climate Policy & Advocacy: Capacity building young climate policymakers and movement leaders to not only prepare but also actively participate in and influence multilateral climate policy processes to be responsive to the needs of young people at local, national, regional and international levels.
  • Capacity Building & Leadership: Mentoring and training upcoming youth leaders on climate science, restoration approaches, project management, campaign strategies, institutional building.
  • Innovation & Action Acceleration: Accelerating youth to develop and scale climate-smart solutions, addressing issues in renewable energy, conservation science, climate tech, climate-resilient agriculture and other sectors.
  • Collaboration & Multilateral Engagement: In collaboration with other climate platforms and movements, we support African youth representatives to actively participate in key climate events, amplifying and unifying their voices in regional and global climate discussions.

Our Impact:

Through collaboration with our partners, we have;

  • Empowered over 150 youth from across Africa to participate in the UNFCCC process in COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh and COP28 in Dubai.
  • Trained 70 youth on policy negotiations, climate advocacy, movement building strategy.
  • Supported the organizing of the African Youth Climate Assembly (AYCA), the official youth mechanism to the African Climate Summit (ACS) that brought over 1,000 youth delegates from across the African Continent to deliberate on youth climate action. AYCA Nairobi Youth Declaration was adopted by AU and Heads of States, ACS Nairobi declaration and handed over to President of Kenya, H.E President William Ruto in His Capacity as the Chairperson of The Committee of African Heads of State and Government Climate Change (CAHOSC) and Moussa Faki, the African Union Chairperson.
