GGI & Extreme Hangout @COP29

Highlighting the Youth Water Agenda, launched under the Global Commission on the Economics of Water and rallying young people to shape water governance and promote a stable hydrological cycle for the sake of present and future generations.

This session will cover insights from the Global Commission on the Economics of Water report emphasizing the critical role of maintaining a stable hydrological cycle for the common good. With water resources increasingly strained, and the climate crisis worsening, the need to have a stable hydrological cycle is key for sustainable development, mitigating the climate crisis, restoring ecosystems and promoting human well-being.

The high-level panel will have experts who played a crucial role in the Global Commission report and will explain the report, sharing key insights and findings from the report. They will work to help the audience understand what is hydrological and the role it plays in our ecosystem and in promoting human life.

It is important to note that the event will also bring an intergenerational approach to water management and the maintenance of the hydrological cycle. The session will explore youth-led and driven action and advocacy in water conservation and the hydrological cycle. We shall spotlight and showcase pathways for meaningful youth engagement and action related to water management and conservation.
